This is Haven. She is incredibly smart, energetic, oh so beautiful and the daughter of my oldest friend, Brittany. Brittany and I often kid one anther that we are each others longest relationship but it’s true, we are! I think we are going on something like 23 years. (When’s our anniversary, Brittany? Haha)
Our friendship has weathered the years and the countless changes each of us has gone through. The well of memories we have to pull from is vast and deep, full of laughter, over-coming and transformation. Friendship, just like marriage, takes commitment and tons of grace. I’m so thankful that even in seasons when neither of us was reaching out to each other, there was never a question in either’s mind that we weren’t friends. There was just generous amounts of unspoken understanding and forgiveness and grace that carried us through the years. So much so that it has always felt like we’ve never missed a beat.
Like Fisher, I pray that Haven grows into her name. That she would be a woman who points many people to our ultimate place of shelter, safety and refuge, Jesus. And that Haven would find a friend like I have found in her mommy.
